What we will look at today is what do the studies say vs. what the drug companies that sell them say. Statins do lower cholesterol for sure. But does that mean you are now better off? Don’t forget you can always choose a doctor that is willing to listen to his or her patient. If he or she prescribes you a statin anyway and you decide to take it and your cholesterol gets lower you may think you are getting healthier. Not so fast! There is much more to the equation than LDL numbers. Like density, body inflammation and so on. Things your doctor should consider are hs-C-reactive protein, particle sizes of the LDL cholesterol.
